Notes: Strictly speaking, this design is not a tessellation since it does not really repeat (except for the upper-left corner). However, it looks it does repeat to us. Why? The design represents what we would see if a repeating tessellation (as shown in the upper-left corner) were to be wrapped around a sphere (i.e., ball). Thus, we get the illusion that the image is curved, when in fact, it is as flat as your computer screen.
