Description: |
Juan Gris - Landscape with Houses at Ceret; Oil on canvas, 100 x 65 cm (39 3/8 x 25 5/8 in); Galeria Theo, Madrid (DC56) |
|
Date of Artwork: |
1913 |

Notes: This Cubist work of art is divided into separate, distinct polygons. Since these polygons do not repeat, this work of art is not a tessellation. It does, however, show an example of the role of geometry in art. (As a side note, a small tessellation is shown in the middle portion of the artwork in the form of a roof-like tessellation of near-rectangles.)
