To figure out how this tessellation was created, each starfish is outlined by straight lines. Above, you can see the outlines of four adjacent starfish. Convince yourself that the designs contained within the four shapes shown above can be translated as a group to form the rest of the tessellation. Then, the question is, how were these four shapes designed?
