This park is located in a remote part of Tanzania - 200 mi down the eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika, near the Gombe Streams National park. Set in the Malale Mountains, the park offers a unique ecological zone. There are lowland forests, moist and dry savanna, miombo and open woodlands. Visitors can only reach the park by plane or by the Tanganyika dhow (boat). There are no roads in the park, and tourists have to go wildlife viewing on foot. The mountains rise to about 8,000 ft and contain lush, semi-tropical forests. There are various options for visitors: walking safaris, swimming, snorkeling in Lake Tanganyika.
