The next great period of invention and inventiveness came in the
Industrial revolution, which began in England in
the middle of the 18th century. The Industrial
Revolution was a rapid and great change of life for people living in Europe and North
America. The economy changed from a small "farm" economy into being a true
"manufacturing" economy. There were two major
inventions that really kick started the Industrial Revolution. These were the spinning jenny, which is a way to spin
cotton using water or steam power. The other one is the steam engine. The steam engine made the
factory possible, replacing outdated water wheels with a powerful and reliable form of
energy.
