James Watt was a Scottish engineer who developed
the steam engine. He made Thomas
Newcomen's steam engine greatly more powerful and
efficient by cooling the used steam in a condenser. The steam engines that he built with
Matthew Boulton were a vital part of the Industrial Revolution
that occured in Britain and other European countires around the 1800's. |
