Unlike resistors in series, capacitors in series lowers the total capacitance. The total capacitance in a capacitor series circuit is less than the lowest capacitor in the circuit.
To find the total capacitance, use the following equation:
Ct = (C1 * C2) / (C1 + C2)
Notice that it's the same equation as resistors in parallel
