PurposeWe, the members of Thinkquest team 16435, have strived to develop a quality learning environment in the area of Communications Technology, namely the Internet and Perl Scripting. Each of us has found a way to come together through incredible distances and various schedules to make this site possible. Josh has been gone for two weeks worth of camping. Clint has been very active with Scouting and went to a nine-day conference in Iowa. Jennifer has been travelling the world visting relatives, but she has found time to log onto ICQ chats and has been able to work with us remotely. Our goal was to make an asthetically-pleasing website, and relay some important information about Perl scripting, breaking the text up with an occasional humorous remark. We hope that you have are finding this an enjoyable website as it was intended.
And now, a little about us webmasters:Hello. I'm Joshua Blake, one of the guys who worked on this project. Here's a little about me...I go to Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, which is a magnet school in northern Virginia, which is a pretty cool place. There, I play tuba in the Marching Colonials and in the SWE, and I like to spend time talking to my friends on AIM and ICQ and in real life whenever they are around. At home, I have a 300 Mhz pentium equivlent with 33.6 modem 4 gig hard drive and 32 megs RAM, and also a 150 Mhz 32 megs RAM computer downstairs. I do a lot of graphics work on them, and also programming, such as in VC++, javascript, perl, and other internet applications. Responsibility: team captain, script editor, lesson editor Hi, there! My name is Clint Johns, and I'm a member on this long-term project. I have been working with both Josh and and Jen on this site in the hopes that we could come together and make an informative and light-hearted website about the magnificent art of Perl scripting, one of the most dynamic ways to spruce up the ol' homestead on the net. I am a 18 year- old headed to the University of California, Davis, where I will be majoring in Engineering Computer Science & Mathematics. Since I love computers so much, I wanted to try out my knowledge of HTML and expand it to include DHTML, (Dynamic HyperText Markup Language). My partners live a way's away, so we have to work over a chat program called ICQ. I have learned a lot from them, and have had a, lot of fun making this website. I hope that you enjoy it as much as we have! At home, I have a PII 400 Mhz composite computer, and on it, I use Corel Wordperfect 8.0 and Paint Shop Pro 5.0 frequently, and have knowledge in True basic, Visual Basic, Texas Instruments Calulator programming, and C++. I'm a "net nut", which basically means that I really like the internet (let's just say that I check my email at least 5 times a day...). Thanks for stopping by! Responsibility: HTML editor, graphics editor Hi my name is Jennifer Ping, I am one of the authors that helped create the site on Perl and CGI. I had lots of fun making and revising the site. A lot of my hobbies deals with computers, for example I love computer games, surfing the net, learning about computer and so on. I also enjoy outdoor sports, listening to music and playing music, etc... I'm a 15 year old girl who enjoys what she does. I go to a school called Gordon Graydon Memorial Secondary School in Ontario, Canada, and within that school it offers a special program called the Business and Technology Program. It allows students within that program to study more about Business and Computers more then a regular high school. Most of the subjects there link to a computer one way or another. For example, in Music, they have a computer that lets you create MIDI files and other interesting things by using a keyboard and a computer. In Math class, they teach you about graphing and interest calculating which also requires computers, etc... This summer, I did some travelling to both Taiwan and Altanta, GA, where my relatives live. It was a great experience, and I even got on the net away from home to help with the website! Well, I hope you now have a better understanding of me. Responsibility: graphics editor |
