The primary function of the cardiovascular
system is to get oxygen to all points of the body, through use of blood. The central
organ is the heart. The heart is made up of cardiac tissue, pumps the blood. First,
to the lungs to receive oxygen, and then to various parts of the body for
distribution. The blood stream will then begin another cycle in which the
unoxegynated blood travels back to the lungs. Blood travels through a system of
arteries (oxygenated blood) and veins (unoxygenated blood). This system is called
the circulatory system and can be thought of as the bodies highway. The
cardiovascular is one of the most important systems in the body, as all other organs and
tissues rely on it for the oxygen vital to their function.
