Placido Domingo
(1941- )


Domingo was borne in Madrid, Spain, in 1941. In Mexico, he took instruction in various fields including piano, singing, and conducting. There, in 1960, he sang his first major role. The following year, he appeared, for the very first time, in the United States withe the Dallas Civic Opera. From 1962 to 1965, he sang withe the Israeli National Opera. In 1966, he debuted at the New York City Opera. Subsequently, two years later, he debuted at the Metropolitan Opera. Domingo is regarded as one of the great tenor voices of his time. As a result, he has toured many opera houses around the world (in more than eighty-five roles). Further, he has made countless recordings of opera and popular music, and has appeared in opera on television and in films. He is blessed withe good health, and remains alive to this very day.
