It was a revolution begun and won by the people of God. The church was the people of God liberating themselves. The means the people of God chose as the means to effect their liberation were chosen precisely because they gave expression to the Gospel values: respect and love for the human person, respect for human life. They chose a nonviolent resistance that harmed no one and drew all together

I am determined to make a success of this government. I am not doing it for Cory Aquino but for the people who are hoping and praying. I am doing it for democracy. If I fail, it might be said that democracy itself does not have a chance to survive here. It is determination, more than anything else -- and I keep telling people: "You have to help me." They do help and, for some of them, it is a big sacrifice.

My pastor said it was not just people power that caused the miracle--a frist ever for any nation in the world. It was "praying people power," as evidenced by the different creeds, denominations, and nationalities who manned the barricades.
What a previlege it was for expatriates to have been in the Philippines and to have witnessed this! For Filipinos: what pride to be able to hold our heads up again before the world and show what unity and prayer can do against insurmountable odds!

"The tanks are coming!" Somebody would shout from the crowd and at once everyone ran in the direction of the advancing tanks. A false alarm. Almost every approach to Crame now lay blocked with stalled cars and buses, fallen trees, debris or street lighting. But it was the human barricade, swelling by the minute, that provided the biggest barrier to any possible advance of loyalist forces.

At Channel 4 we milled around just walking and staring at people. We knew there was danger but we felt confident and brave. My daughter, Patricia, asked her mother: "What are we doing here? Why are we just walking around?" Her mother answered: "We are doing people power my child..."

I saw, with my own eyes, all these dramatic events, but the one thing that meant most to me was comparatively very humdrum: A logo flashing on a television screen, and a voice saying: "This is Channel 4 serving the people again."
I don't think anyone noticed it, but I cried then.

One miracle was the people. They faced danger. They became very courageous. They went where the danger was. Sending our people out was a risk, but it was the only way.
When your faith is strong, even mountains can be moved. But there were moments when I was disturbed. I was praying; "God, don't let his happen, please." Never in my life did I pray so much.
