Every Filipino in the world today stands a little taller and a little prouder. No longer the butt of jokes and the object of pity or derision, Filipinos can take their place in the council of nations because they are one of the few races who have done the impossible

Freedom from twenty years of dictatorship, twenty years of oppression, hardship, repression, injustice, corruption, greed, waste and near despair -- ended. Ended by a revolution of peace, prayers, Rosaries, radios, and above all, raw human courage. It is true: the Filipino is brave, the Filipino is honorable, the Filipino is great.

Marcos did not order his troops to attack immediately--because he was not sure. He and General Ver had a fortress in Malacaņang and they were not sure of how many, where, and who we were. So he built a wall, a perimeter. This is usually what somebody who is not confident of his knowledge of the enemy would do.

The world is best reconstructed by valuing the people and human lives, by reaching out in joy and dialogue. That is Filipino people power. This will be our contribution to human progress and peace. By this, we proclaim to the world that God, in whom we believe, has a hand in our history as a people

I used to hate the military and the police, but I on Sunday I found myself preparing sandwiches for them. I heard over the radio that they needed food. I had to squeeze through a crowd just to bring food to the soldiers. I remembered all the times when I cursed them during rallies and was amazed now that I walked so far and worked so hard for them.
