" . . . But we must not
forget that there are battles ahead. The people must not proudly sing Bayan Ko (My
Homeland), and then go home. They must be back at the barricades, not relaxing their
vigilance. For it is darkest just before dawn."

Jaime Cardinal
Sin was born in August 31, 1928, the 14th of 16 children born to Juan Sin and
Maxima Lachica.
Ordained a priest at the age
of 26, he became a domestic prelate (a largely honorific title which entitled him to be
addressed as Monsignor instead of the simpler more familiar Father) at 31. He became a
bishop at 38, an archbishop at 44 and a cardinal at 48. At the time from his elevation to
the Sacred College of Cardinals and for many years thereafter, he was far and away the
youngest member.
He also served at the united
voice of the people during the 1986 EDSA Revolution. His voice bound the hearts and the
beliefs of the people and turned them into a force to topple the 20-year dictatorship of
Marcos.
