Inside/Hardware: Peripherals
Peripherals are "extras" on things such as computers.
They are separate components that enhance a computer's effect or ability. Among these
would be speakers, external modems, printers, scanners, microphones, servers, hubs, or
even sub woofers. Now a days, some of these objects come standard with the majority of
PC's. Things like printers, speakers, and even scanners are coming with many computer
packages. As we said before, peripherals enhance the ability of the computer. Printers
allow you to make hard copies of documents or images that are otherwise just bits of
information in your computer. A scanner will allow you to take hard copies and transform
them into those bits of information. Speakers generate the digital and acoustic
sounds that are bits of information on a computer. Microphones harness those acoustic or
possibly digital sounds and turn them into little bits of information. Although not
necessary, peripherals are an important part of bringing out the full potential of a PC.
