Inside/Hardware: The Main Input Devices
The keyboard and the mouse are the main input devices on a personal
computer. In other words, they allow you to interact with the computer. Everything you do
must be done through these two devices. Perhaps in the future we will have other means by
which we would be able to inter-act with the computer, but as of now, we have only these
two devices. Below is a close-up of the mouse and keyboard. Below, a mouse has been taken
apart to allow further inspection of the inside of a mouse.
Without these two devices, your computer would be virtually useless. The
mouse is probably the most independent. You can type without the mouse and an expert
can navigate quite well with a keyboard. Yet to achieve a computer's full potential,
you need both the keyboard and the mouse.
