The monitor is what allows you to see what your doing. It holds the screen and without it, your computer would be virtually useless. Monitors have really come a long way in the past couple of years (along with the rest of technology). Now, we have monitors that are centimeters thick and have about a 20" viewing screen. Due to the development of new technologies and the incorporation of LCD displays, we will soon see larger viewing screens and smaller widths. Also, the prices will drop on these smaller monitors. Monitors also have a variety of built in functions such as low-power standby, degauss, and screen-adjusting controls.

Advancement in monitor technology is so important and fundamental. If the industry is expected to progress at an astounding rate, the monitor interface must be better. We have to develop higher resolution capability for monitors and to develop smaller monitors that will provide a more visual and natural interface.
