Financial Aid and Scholarships

There are many different ways to get financial aid to pursue training or education that will lead to a healthcare career.  Scholarships are given to students for a variety of reasons ranging from financial need to athletic talent to academic performance.  Grants, usually from the government, are based on financial need and don't need to be repaid.  There are lots of different types of educational loans for students and their parents.  And finally, many schools have work-study programs that allow students with financial need to earn money at part-time jobs.

Libraries and bookstores are filled with books on financial aid, and your state department of education can provide lots of information as well.  Discussing all of the differenct types of financial aid that is available is beyond the scope of our website, but we can point you toward some links that cover the subject very well.

The Student Guide to financial aid is published by the Department of Education.

The Financial Aid Information Page is the single best source of information we know of for finding out about financial aid.

Information on Financial Aid for medical school is available from the American Association of Medical Colleges.
