Amy Sanftleben

I was born in Aschaffenburg, Germany, and have also lived in Gaithersburg, Maryland and Fort Hood (actually Harker Heights), Texas.  Yes, I admit it; I am an Army brat.  At least I used to be; my dad retired several years ago. 

I'm on the executive board of my school's student council and have played the flute and the piccolo in the band for the last two years.  I also work on my school's newpaper and do a lot of volunteer work at our local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and the Virginia Beach Public Library. 

I am just starting to look into colleges and think I might like to go to Dartmouth, Mary Washington, Randolf-Macon, Washington University, or William and Mary. 

I have always been kind of interested in computers, and I cannot ever remember not having one in our house.  Information technology is not very big at my school though; at least not in any of the courses I have taken except journalism.  I really got interested in trying to make websites a little over a year ago when I decided to put one together for our band, the Fabulous Marching Cavaliers. 

I got the idea for this site when I was browsing the web looking for information on medical careers and could not find one central clearinghouse of resources. I hope that you find what we have done useful.

I went to Avery Elementary School from kindergarden to 5th grade and then Steger Sixth Grade Center.  I currently attend Hixson Middle School and am in the 8th grade.  Next year I will go to Webster Groves High School.  I do well in school and enjoy extracurricular activities. 

I play the piano and accompany the Hixson Middle School Jazz Band.  I like sports, and I play on my parish's basketball and softball teams.  I also am on Shrewsbury's summer swim team.  I am a real Cardinals baseball fan, and I love to go to Busch Stadium and watch Mark McGwire hit home runs. 

I use computers a lot for school assignments.  I use them to type papers and also to do research on the Internet and on my Encarta Encyclopedia.  I like to go onto the Internet just for fun, and I love to see who's hanging out in some of the teen chat rooms.  I have had a computer since I was in kindergarten, and I have always loved to explore different programs that no one ever seems to know how to use on our computer. 

I have two younger sisters, Jeanette and Carolyn, who I spend a lot of time with, and I also have a ten year old beagle, Jackie, who loves to hang around me.
