It is usually between 2 and 5 km (6,500-16,500 ft). They are not as greatly affected by ground heating and cooling as low-level clouds because of distance from the ground.
Some examples of medium-level cloud types:
It is a uniform grey sheet of cloud. When it is thin and high, the sun or moon can be seen through it with a blurred edge. Rain or snow may fall from this cloud.
They may appear as small white puffy clouds that can drift across the sky to look like loose balls of cotton wool. They may be light grey near the centres, but white at the edges.
