Weather is something which affects our everyday lives.  Often weather may come up as a topic of conversation.  Weather affects everyone, be it farmer's and their crops, natural disasters, such as floods, droughts or tornadoes or activities delayed due to rain.  People need to know what is happening with the weather.  Although it cannot be accurately calculated, a probable prediction based on synoptic charts, cloud formations, etc., can be made, to prepare people.

The science of studying weather is called Meteorology.  In many places around the world weather observing stations have been set up to record the atmospheric conditions - wind speed and direction, temperatures, humidity, etc. - at regular intervals.  Reports are also made by ships and a few weather stations situated at airports.  All the information is gathered and compared, resulting in a fairly accurate prediction.

WHAT CAUSES WEATHER?

The energy which causes all the weather in the world comes from the sun.  The heat from the sun is transmitted as radiant energy towards the earth.  Only about a half of the energy which reaches the earth's atmosphere actually gets through to the earth's surface.  Many weather conditions, such as rain, wind, snow etc., are experienced all over the world everyday. These phenomenons happen because of certain aspects.  It is these aspects which are the main topic of this website.
