| Munich Pact: |
| The Munich Pact was signed at the Munich Conference in 1938 by Great Britain, Italy, France, and Germany. This pact authorized Germany to take possession of the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia, and exemplified Neville Chamberlain's policy of appeasement. The Munich Pact soon proved to be useless, as Hitler invaded the rest of Czechoslovakia without opposition anyhow. In addition to giving the Sudetenland to Hitler, the Munich Pact also had provisions for Hungary and Poland to claim parts of Czechoslovakia. Germany, Hungary, and Poland divided the Czechoslovakian nation. |
