Luxembourg: |
| In World War II, Germany invaded the country of Luxembourg in May, 1940. They easily conquered this tiny nation, and its monarchy was exiled, and like Belgium, set up a remote government in London. Luxembourg was under German control until 1944, when the Allies liberated the country in September, and restored it to civilian control. |
