Hara-Kiri: |
| Hara-Kiri is the term for Japanese ritual suicide. Many Japanese officers, to avoid the shame of surviving a lost battle used ceremonial blades to kill themselves in the final days of many battles. These actions often led to great disorganization in the Japanese forces that remained, and such forces were soon wiped out, with very few survivors. |
