Goebbels, Joseph (1897-1945): |
| Joseph Goebbels was Hitler's main propagandist during his rise to power and during World War II. Goebbels joined the Nazi party in 1922, and met Hitler in 1926. In 1929 he succeeded Himmler as the main propaganda leader of the Nazi party. His media campaigns helped Hitler to assume control of the country in 1933. Throughout the war, he used media to instill the image of Hitler as a god into the minds of the German people. He suggested that a Nazi future was the destiny of Germany. In 1945, as Allied forces neared Berlin, Goebbels committed suicide, along with many other Nazi leaders, including Hitler himself. |
