Cairo Conference: |
| Held in late November of 1943, this conference was called to determine Allied strategy with respect to Japan. Great Britain, the United States, and China were represented by Winston Churchill, Franklin Roosevelt, and Chiang Kai-shek, respectively. In December, Roosevelt announced the results of this conference. It was determined that the Allies would seek unconditional surrender, would not attempt to gain territory from Japan, and would restore all Chinese possessions taken by Japan to China. The Soviet Union was not represented, as the USSR was not officially at war with China. |
