Attlee, Clement:

Clement Attlee was a British politician who led Great Britain and set up the British welfare state after World War II. During World War II, he served Winston Churchill in a variety of posts. After World War II, he defeated Churchill in a landslide victory and became the first Prime Minister from the Labour Party. He helped to rebuild the economy through industrialization and an advancement of the railroads, steel industry, and coal mining. He also introduced numerous social programs to improve health care and education. In addition, under his administration, India, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar were granted independence.
