Meet the Treble Rebels

The Treble Rebels are composed of Ryan Damico, Lauren Mirsky, and Jesse Friedman.

        Ryan Damico is a sophomore at Lakeland High School. He has a passion for science, and would like to become an astronaut. In his spare time, he builds electronic devices, programs computers, and designs and launches rockets. In April of 1998 Ryan was the 1st place winner in a national competition sponsored by NASA and the National Science Teacher's Association. He spent a week interning at the NASA Lewis Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

        Ryan plays trumpet and is an active member of his high school band, jazz band, and symphonic orchestra. He has performed several times in the Westchester County School Music Association's All-County Band. Ryan plans on auditioning for the All-State Band in the spring of 1999. When he is not launching rockets or shooting lasers, he also composes music. Ryan is also an active member of the Lakeland High School Debate Team and the JV soccer team. He spent a week interning at the NASA Lewis Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio. 1999 update: Ryan is currently a ThinkQuest semi-finalist in the Science and Mathematics category. The name of his site is Think Space.

        “By taking part in ThinkQuest, I've learned critical leadership and time management skills, as well as pooling the collective knowledge of the team into a single, focused concept.”

         Lauren Mirsky is a senior at Lakeland High School. She is involved in many activities both in and outside of school. This year she will be President of Wig 'n' Whiskers, the school drama group, and secretary of the band. In addition, she is on the staff of the newspaper, a member of the Jazz Band and Committee for the Advancement and Betterment of Lakeland, and the Lakeland High School representative to the Lakeland Board of Education. Outside of school, Lauren is working on her Girl Scout Gold Award, is on the executive board of the Leo Club (for which she designed a web page), and is an aide at the Yorktown Jewish Center Religious School.

        “ThinkQuest has allowed me to explore the intricacies of web page design. I now understand that no matter how beautiful a page is designed the content is the foundation on which it stands.”

         Jesse Friedman is currently a Senior at Lakeland High School, in Shrub Oak, New York. He is seventeen years old and has lived in Yorktown Heights, NY for his entire life. He is involved with his school's drama group and the student government organization. In his spare time he enjoys reading comic books, going to the movies, art, music, sports, taking care of his pets, using his computer, and spending time with his friends and family. Jesse looks forward to attending college in the Fall of 1999, and would like to major in computer science or in a major relating to the arts.

         “Taking part in ThinkQuest '98 has helped me to refine my English and research skills, and to learn to handle time management. I have also learned vital programming skills and methods of internet design. I feel that I can now take this learning experience and bring it into my school work, thus becoming a more successful student overall. Being in ThinkQuest '98 has taught me to strive for excellence.”
