We knew that the people who would come here looking for information on fencing will come from vastly different backgrounds. Some may know nothing about fencing and come to get some idea of the sport. Some who have a little fencing experience may come to learn more.To give something to each of these groups (and any others) who come searching for information on fencing, we have divided our tutorial section into smaller parts so that fencers (or fencers to be) will be able to go directly to the information they want. From the beginners tutorial to more advanced bladework and footwork techniques, we tried to include a broad range of information for fencers with a broad range of experience.
This tutorial is NOT all that you need to learn to start fencing. If you seriously want to learn how to fence, check out our contacts section to find a team, club, or other organiztion in your area where you can learn to fence from a coach or other experienced fencers.
All of the information in this section is about Olympic fencing as regulated by the FIE (Federation Internationale d'Escrime). We hope to eventually include information on SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) fencing and martial arts fencing including Kendo and Kenjutsu.
