Cirrus Clouds
Wispy, ice crystal clouds, that form as high as 35,000 feet. They look like horse tails blowing in the wind, so they are known as mare's tails.
Cirrocumulus Clouds
Made up of ice crystals and form about 25,000 to 30,000 feet above the earth.
Cirrostratus Clouds
Thin gauze-like sheets that from at the same high altitudes as cirrocumulus clouds. They often create halos around the sun and moon.
Altostratus Clouds
Thick sheets of pale gray. If the sun or the moon appears behind the moon, it looks like it's covered by a thick veil.
