So Gilgamesh had mercy on the giant. Gilgamesh and the giant became friends and upon hearing of Gilgamesh's troubles Humbaba went to the people of Uruk and told them of Gilgamesh's mercy. The people of Uruk realized that Gilgamesh had finally conquered his arrogance and allowed Gilgamesh back into the city as their King. And they all lived happily ever after.
