[Astronomers]

All through history people have been looking at and studying the Sun. There have been many people who have made their life's work studying the Sun; we call these scientists astronomers. In this section on our Sun site we would like to tell you about the lives of some of the great Astronomers who have studied the Sun.

Some of them have had an enormous positive effect on the way we view the heavens today. Some however set human scientific thought back years and, in some cases, centuries due to their limited knowledge of the solar system and the Sun, their religious beliefs, and/or the limitations they had due to unsophisticated equipment.
