It's kind of ironic that this summer while working on our entry "The Sun: Man's Friend & Foe" I had a heat stroke! What heightened the irony was that at that very time I was working on the symptoms of heat stroke page yet I didn't recognize it in myself. Let me say this - I won't recommend it to anyone. It was indeed a very unpleasant experience.
Basically I had spent the whole day outside in the Sun in school helping organize an event. However after a while I felt dizzy and a little disoriented. Later I found out that I had a fever. The school nurse immediately made me drink some lemonade and had me moved to the clinic. I was then sent home and advised to take bed rest.
Basically since I had only had a very mild attack it was not dangerous at any point in time. However it was indeed very exhausting and was entirely due to my own neglect. I was working in the Sun without any hat, or sunglasses and did not take any breaks in the shade or keep myself hydrated with cooling drinks. Though I'm not sure what was worse the heat stroke or the needling I got at home about how I should practice what I preach! So take it from me, listen to what is said in the heat stroke section and other pages. I was lucky but someone else might not be....
