Brickman began playing the piano at age four in his hometown, Cleveland, Ohio. He continued to play the piano and study with a neighborhood teacher until he graduated high school at which point he went to Cleveland Institute of Music. After graduation, Brickman started his own commercial piano playing business. He has played for such companies as General Electric and McDonalds. In addition, Brickman has played for Jim Henson and the "Muppet Babies".
