1903-1931 - Born in Iowa, Bix Beiderbecke was a cornetist, a pianist and jazz composer. He was known as the first great white jazz musician. Beiderbecke advanced simple jazz at the time to a more complex and advanced form. He built jazz more on the forms of improvisation and extended chords. In 'Singin’ the Blues, Beiderbecke is known for his skill in improvisation which was widely favored and emulated.
which changed the whole outlook and sound of the piano in jazz music. His playing of Kind of Blue in 1959 with Miles Davis Sextet earned him national recognition.
