If you have trouble selecting one item such as the flag in our example, change the tolerance of the magic wand tool. The higher the tolerance, the more area similar to the color you click on will be selected. Also, once an area or object is selected, we would suggest you save your selection (this is an option under the select menu). If you make a mistake, you have not lost much of your current work. |

We strongly recommend you save your image about every 5 minutes because all your work can be lost if your computer goes off. Believe us, it is a painful experience! |

Be careful about where you obtain photographs and images. Make sure your sources are "ROYALTY-FREE" or you are probably violating copyright laws. Many clipart CDs and Internet sites allow you to use their images, if properly cited. If you use your own photographs this is not problem. Many reference works, such as encyclopedias, simply license the use of photos and do not own them. |
Teacher's Lounge:
Here are some classroom project suggestions:
Have students create music CD covers for their favorite group or make up one for a new release. Use an inexpensive CD jewel case to display them!
Students could scan and repair a family photograph.
For a social studies project, small groups of students could create a collage for a brochure highlighting the important sites or cultural events of a given region.
Morph self portraits of students with their favorite animals.
Hold a classroom debate on the ethics of presenting constructed images to the public.
