Repair A Damaged Photo
As another demonstration of how images can be repaired, we took a perfectly nice picture, removed a corner, and ripped it in half.

First, we wanted to replace the ripped corner. To
do this, we used the stamp tool . By moving the tool to the area directly to the
right of the rip and clicking, we were able to pickup the correct
color for the repair. The corner was fixed by moving the stamp tool
from right to left while holding the left mouse button down. The
picture to the left shows you the middle of the process and the one
on the right shows you the completed process.

Next we selected the middle rip and deleted it. The
magic wand tool was used todo this. Use the "save selection" command from the
"Select" menu to keep the rip area selected..

Next we chose the "inverse selection" command. The magic wand and alt-click deselected the left half. Then the right half was cut.

Next step involved pasting the right half onto a new layer. The layer was moved until it lined up with the rip of the left half. When we found a good fit, we used the "merge down" command.

Next, we used the stamp tool again to coverup the middle line. The area copied for color was right next to the line.

Finally, we selected everything but the extra area created and used the crop command under the image menu. This gets rid of the extra area created.
Now that we are finished, take a look at how close the fixed up image looks like the original:
