Religion

    Like the ancient Indian tribes such as the Aztecs and Mayas, the Hawaiians believed in many pagan gods.  There were gods for volcanoes, war, nature, and many more.  The Hawaiians believed strongly in their faith and even today one can see the influence of their past beliefs.  Only with the arrival of westerners, mainly Christian priests, did the Hawaiians begin to change their ways.  Below is a chart of the various Hawaiian gods and their area of influence.
