Posting Your Web Page

Web pages do not magically appear out of nowhere. As I discussed earlier, Web pages are hypertext documents. They are text documents with HTML tags that tell the browser how to format or display the text and/or pictures. These documents are stored on w hat is known as a web server. A web server is a computer that is running software which talks HTTP the Web protocol. When you type an address into the location directory of your browser, the browser sends a request to the web server for the page that y ou want. To be able to display a web page you need two items. First, you need a web page and second you need a web server. The ISP (Internet Service Provider) that you obtain your internet access from will sometimes allow you to use their server, chec k with them to see. If you don't have an ISP or yours does not allow you to post a web page, then you can use a free web hosting server. These sites offer you space on their server to store your page. Some of them offer an e-mail account as well. Belo w we have listed some links to free web hosts. Check them out to see which one you like the most. Geocities is by far the most popular. You can also check the yahoo link for any new links that become avaliable.
