Headings

Once you have the "skeleton" built, it is time to start fleshing out your webpage. It is a good idea to start with the basics, namely the heading of your page. Not to be confused with the <HEAD> tag you just learned about, this heading is more like a title to put at the top of your page. It may be the same as the one you defined with the <TITLE> tag and it may be something completely different.

The Heading Tag

<Hx> ... </Hx>

- This tag, the Heading tag, places a "heading" on your page. A "heading" can best be described as an internal title on your page. You can put a heading at the beginning of a section or before a list on your page. The "x" is any number from 1 to 6, with 1 being the largest heading and 6 being the smallest heading. Even though it is very common to use the heading tag to put "titles" on your page, you can use the smaller headings (5 or 6) to place things like copyright notices or comments at the bottom of your page.
