OUR SOLAR SYSTEM The solar system has 9 major planets with their moons, orbiting the sun. There are, of course, asteroids, comets, gas, dust and ice particles in the system. The planets move round the sun in the same direction, their orbits lie on the same plane, except Pluto, whose orbit is tilted. Seven of the nine planets move in the anti-clockwise direction while only Venus and Uranus spin the opposite way. The planets are classified into two groups: the Terrestrial and Jovian planets. Terrestrial planets are rocky and Jovian planets are made of gas and liquid. We shall also include the topic of the black holes as a bonus.
