Petrogly As the great monoliths look down at my people, we too look back at them not only as a great piece of art, but as symbols of who we are, and what we believe.

The building of the moai was a ritual that most Islanders practiced. From the building of the ahu to the carving and transportation of the moai, the Rapanui people devoted their life to worshiping their lords.

Our sacred religion gradually shifted from moai building to the annual Birdman ceremony.
