July 23 -- A study by Duke University’s Sarah Stedman Nutrition Center discovered that people with high cholesterol can reduce their levels with a diet containing lean pork and/or skinless chicken. Those subjects studied were able to reduce their cholesterol levels by 6.8% when eating a diet with lean pork as the only meat, and by 7.6% with a skinless chicken diet. This study helps to dispell some of the myths concerning pork. With its fat trimmed off, it can be nearly as healthy as skinless chicken, implies the study Source: National Pork Producers Council; Reuters Health News |
