Less Sugar and Salt

Overconsumption of sugar, like fat, is a problem

Sugar

because sugar is high in calories, and often unaccompanied by essential nutrients. Sugar is a carbohydrate and contains lots of energy, but unlike breads and cereals, it does not have the fiber or

nutrients that your body needs. Since sugar tastes good, it is easy to overconsume it. Too much sugar can lead to too many calories, which can lead to excess body fat and health problems. As long as you are cautious about how much sugar you eat, though, some sugar is fine.

Too much salt, or sodium, can also be a big problem. Salt is a necessary nutrient; you should be sure to get enough of it. For most people, though, that is not a problem. The problem is getting too much of it. Too much salt has been shown to cause high blood pressure, which can lead to heart problems. Many preprocessed foods contain a lot of salt, so be careful. It is very easy to have too much salt in your diet.

So, there you have it. As you have seen, eating right is not brain surgery. All it takes is some knowledge and determination.  Good luck!
