A very interesting site to find informations for my classes. The ArtiFAQ section gives insight into what the futurefor the arts will be and to compare that into the past.

some say that she is just a serious looking person and then some say that leanardo was trying to capture a moment just after telling a joke.I personal think that she is just smiling , but it i s hard to tell.

I have always heard that an artist puts a bit of himself in all his work. The smile on the portait is what sets it apart and adds a little mystic. He was a great inventor also. I do wish we knew more about him. The more you learn about him,it just makes one more curious.

Leonardo's genius is conveyed extremely well in this web site. The internet can only exert so much artistic energy, and this puts most other sites to shame!

I've only seen one of Leonardo's paintings and that's the MOna Lisa. It makes sense that his most famous would be of him.

I love leanardo. I became amazed with his work when my teacher made me do a report about him. I learn many wonderful and interesting facts. I love this wed page and the most interesting thing I read was about Lillian Schwarts. I was amazed at her theory about Leanardo painting himself. I found that were different, but when I saw the graphics I believe that it was very brilliant. This website is wonderful, the maker of this wed page must be very proud.

I agree with her. I also believe that Leonardo Painted him self. My old classmate told me that he thinks that the Mona Lisa was a Man painted as a Women because of her arms. I think that's could be a good summary inspite of Leonardo painting him self.

Thank-you for the insite on this wonderful universal genius' painting. His inventiveness, versatility, and wide ranging intellectual spirit have made him a symbol of Renaissance spirit. Leonardo has had many other paintings, and none other is as famous as the Mona Lisa. It just makes you realize that oh of course his most famous painting would be of himself, even if it is a woman!

Leonardo and his great works and observations are truly some of the landmarks of civilization. Such brilliance, ambition and optimism, as Leonardo posessed gives evidence that our species guarantees its survival upon the strivance toward the goals dreamt to better his lot. Although we may never be completely rid of our destroyers and detractors, we must never abandon our will to progress and our commitment to come to the aid of others.

Leonardo ceateed a wonderful "deluge" series in which he depicts the end of the world in beautiful yet natural and rhythmic waves. How awesome to see the cycle of nature at work.---Yet how awful to witness man's own self destruction in the ugly, acts we endured on September 11, 2001

After reviewing the hypothesis regarding the Mona Lisa, I'm wondering if Mr. DaVinci wasn't just exploring the anima and animus in himself at that time, since he looked at life from different points of view.

The Mona Lisa is a very interactive piece.Even if she was just a friend or a model to Da-Vinci at the time the painting was on, something tells me that she could have been silently in love Da-Vinci. This is only evident in that obvious smile that was propably meant to be hidden. The general impression I get from the painting anytime I seeit is that of a Model that's posing for her lover-artist.

This is one more marvel to wonder at from this great genious! I would say that the Mona Lisa is smiling only because his self portrait is frowning! You can see from the computerized video that his frowinig mouth features are perfectly horizontally symmetrical with her smile!Thanx a lot for this great site. Lebanon
