Not since that great Italian TV program series, "to know how to see" has an academic recounting of Leonardo's life and work been so deep, comprehensive and filled with such Mysticism and imagination. This site is a classic!

Leonardo Davinci is my favorite artist. But I never seem to find any interesting sites about him. This one is the best I've ever seen. Quite inspiring. The graphics are very high definition. It's a shame the artist isn't a live to know his legacy...cause websites like these connect the whole world to a genius...and like him, this website is ahead of its time. It is the renaissance of Leonardo on the web!

Your site contains iluminating examples of The connectedness of technology to Leonardo. How proud he would have been to see the expansion of ideas from his time analyzed and debated with the yols we have available today.

The use of modern techniques to interpret the Mona Lisa without application knowledge of renaissance art techniques should not be done because doing so will tear the piece apart until viewers have been deprived of the beauty and mystery behind it.

I think its uncanny, the ressemblance between the two.. absolutly crazy.... wow!!!! never would have occured to me... but is it do to, what I call the cartonn effect, (images superimposed, flipping quickly...or is it the same when you actually examine, a little more slowly the two paintings?

that was a cool quizbut it is only a theory that the mona lisa is a self potraitit could be his love the one he was looking for and could never haveif this is exciting maybe all great artists should be looked intoalong with composers because if artists threw themselves into their work and left a piece of them in eac portrait and statue them why not in there music tooi think in theory its his true love or a family memberpoets also put themselves in there work like poewriters are the same way stephen kings pictre is on a newspaper in one of his moviesthe cemetary in pet cemetary if you look close his name is on a tombstoneso every great artist or song writer or movie writer or storie writer or poet adds a piece of themselves to their workits what makes the different from todays artists and writersso have fun with the site and remember everyone has an opinon and a theory about somethingone last thought though b4 i go if you were going to paint a picture of your sister or brother wouldnt there be a little of you in the picture because its your relativebut if you painted a picture of a stranger would you still look like the stranger??

It is a nice theory to think that Leonardo painted himself as The Mona Lisa. ALthough he might have been a genius he could have been unaware of painting some of his own features in the Mona Lisa. It is a normal phenomena that artists who draw or paint portraits, paint unconsciously themselves. I'm an artist and I've seen it already many times happening that in portrait drawing classes that people paint their own face while the person they are looking at has a complete different face. So I think this is not a very solid theory that Leonardo painted himself.

Some of my friends have a theory that she is a prostitute and he didn't record the sitting so as not to shame himself...or perhaps she was just a friend and he actually WANTED a mysterious side to the picture or he just forgot. I perosnally believe the latter 2 ideas. Why is it that in Ever After it is on canvas?

Mona Lisa a self portrait? Hmmmmm... this reconciles L's apparent preference for "male" companionship. Why?- he may have fashioned himself as a captivating attractive woman!--All that male attention? WELL IF TRICK PHOTOGRAPHY CAN METAMORPHOSIZE JOHN INTO YOKO, WHY NOT THEN L INTO M?--HMMMMMM....

Why Mona Lisa is smiling is a question I think that no one will ever really be able to throughaly understand; because no one will ever really know what Da Vinci was thinking when he painted his masterpiece. But like many other mysteries in the world sometimes things are more interesting when you don't know everything about them.
