For those of you who are interested in finding a nice picture of Mona Lisa, go to the Mona Lisa Mail Bag. This site presents two authors views on the identity of Mona Lisa and compares them using Scientific Inquiry. If you take the time to explore this site you would find some fascinating facts. Congratulations to the students who made this site using such old computers. It is truly a remarkable achievement!

I have my doubts about Leonardo painting himself. It could be possible, I am not saying you are wrong, but I would like to see more proof than just that the computer images corresponded. There are some similarities, I will say that, such as the dark brows and the mouth, which is similar. However, I have seen computer images of a monkey super-imposed on President Clinton and they lined up pretty well, too. That doesn't mean that Clinton and the monkey are the same, however (although, truthfully, some people may have their doubts about that...) Anyway, I agree with Maria, I think it was, who said that you need to provide more proof, back it up a little. It is getting harder and harder to distinguish truth from fiction on the net, and you need more evidence to become one of the former.

In my opinion te best paintind of Leonardo was The Last Supper . It symbolizes the essence of the Christian religion . In my opinion It doesn't matter why shes smiling but who she was and the smile makes her all th more intriuging.

I think what Lillian said is wrong. It is not Leonardo. It is Lisa di Antonio Maria Gherardini. Ithink it is wrog to give out false information over the web. I think you should make it clear that this observation is your opinion. It will never be proven. People have to write papers with the info on the web and when they come across false info like yours they just write it down not knowing it is wrong. Clean up your site.

I don't agree with Lillian Schwartz or whatever. I think that he really drew someone but he just used her at the same angle. She could just have been someone with the same features as him. Many people are like that now a days, you just have to look for it. Nice try though Lillian....

We found your website very interesting. We were studying da Vinci in art class, and both wondered why she smiles. We love this site soooooooooooooooooooooooo much! Yes, we both found it (being your article on why the Mona Lisa smiles) very interesting . In my opinion, I think Dr Lillian was correct. We both think Leonardo was one of the most intelligent, intriging, and inspiring men to grace the earth.

I am an arts student, and I often find that when I am drawing a portrait of someone else, I tend to follow the structure and shapes of my own face. Sometimes my subjects end up with my mouth or my eyes etc. Maybe this was Leo's problem. I don't think he purposefully drew the Mona Lisa to look like himself.

The mystery continues!! We all have a likelihood to proceed in analyzing those inanimate objects which we do not perceive with ease. Our artist"s originality of thought is depicted in numerous ways, although the "works" are misinterpreted for our thought process. Most creative thinkers project their imaginations by metaphorming what their surroundings offer to the mind. A genious is able to be a spectator of his own, constructed mental image and produce unimaginable uses for any idea. Before we are able to understand his testimonial reflectiveness, we must first educate ourselves on the many diverse ways his mind could have worked. How a person thinks and how they consume knowledge are our beginning insights on the way to grasp all of the person's being!

I am a studendt at Manhattanville. This is my third time visiting the site. Each time I interact with the site, I gain more knowledge. I teach kindergarten as an assistant at Rippowam Cisqua School, a private school in Bedford, New York. We have talked a lot in class about projects involving the media. I believe that creating a web site is an excellent way to promote school pride. CHildren would love, as you have shown by your web site, to go on line and sign a guest book reguarding their school. The way in which this web site is integrative is impressive. Not only is their music and visual arts, but you can also interact in different languages. Have you recieved messages from people out of this country? Visiting this web site has given me many ideas for my own class. Multi-media projects enhance childrens knowledge in the areas of reading and writing. If anyone says differently, simply give hnhim or her this web site address. After viewing this, they will feel differently. Deb

I really enjoyed your website. Especially the part about the Mona Lisa.I share a slightly different opinion, but I think yours was adaquate.I feel that da Vinci had experienced almost everything except one, being a woman. He was a musician, painter, sculptor, and much more. But the one thing he was not and could not be or do was to be a female. I am not implying that he wanted to be a cross dresser or anything of that naturebut more of the idea of what is like to be a female. I do not have any basis for this theory, but I feel it fits his imaginative lifestyle.
