This web page was very good but we all agree that there is no way to depict what an artist in 1506 could have possibly been thinking when he was painting. Dr. Lillian Swartz may have her own conclusions, whether or not they are valid, we'll never know.

I have enjoyed your site! But... I don't agree that the Mona Lisa is a self-portrait of da Vinci, as amusing as I may find it:) I am an Art History Major here at Penn State and in a recent Art History course the famous smile came up for discussion. According to my teacher, "Mona Lisa's" last name meant "smile" in Italian. I have yet to hear this from anyone else but I am still looking! I don't think we will ever know why she is smiling or who she truly is---I'll admit though that is is fun to read what others think! If you have any further input to the theory of her last name and the connection to her smile, please don't hesitate to e-mail me!

Dear Mr. Feld and Students!Wow! What a neat site! I am a consultant who works with early childhood programs and primary teachers. My most pressing current interest is to see schools begin to use the super resource that the internet represents. As part of the that effort I have authored the ECE & FAmily Web Corner, where Mr. Feld left your site info in the feedback section. I also do workshops for teachers about the internet. I want you to know that I am going to biuld a link to your Leonardo page from the Teacher Resource section of "Teacher Pages" on my site. I think that it should go into the "Using the Internet As a Teaching Tool" section also! I will highlight your site as one example of use of the internet by teachers and students when I do my training. I am always searching for unique uses and yours is certainly a wonderful one. Thanks for the nice site and for letting me know about it.Sincerely,Beth

Thank you for inviting me to review your site. It is well constructed and easy to navigate. I was especially impresed with the American Sign Language used and will be back to look at some of your links to learn how I can utilize this aspect with our own sites and others we design. The work of the students in this project should be commended and although I had read the theory about subject of the Mona Lisa I have my own purely unscientific theory that I invite you to test. I am leaving you a couple of our Sammy pups, internet trained so you need not worry about feeding or cleaning up after them. They will also not disturb the class. But ask yourselves after seeing them if even the Mona Lisa would not have smiled at seeing them.
