CC: Susan Zarambo", " Suzanne Fedoruk" , " Liz" Steve,
Great. Following are a few details and a few things I will need from you.
1. I need a list of that includes the name of people attending the press conference - separate students from adults.
2. The students will be allowed to ask five questions total. Please have these prepared in advance.
3. Please bring a copy of the parental permission slips of all students with you to the press conference.
4. Please prepare a one page bulleted summary about your school and your project. We will use this in the press kit. We would need this by next Tuesday. E-mail it to us and will will have it printed.
5. Unfortunately, there will not be time for you to do a Power Point presentation. It would great if the students could present Ann and Liv each with a copy of the journal work they have been doing. (Let's talk by phone about this. The kids presenting Ann and Liv with their journals will be a big part of the press conference and will be photographed and filmed.)
6. The press conference will be at:
The American -Scandinavian Foundation
Scandinavia House
58 Park Avenue
New York, NY 10016Phone: 212/879-9779
Please arrive with the students no later than 11:00 am. The event will conclude at about 2:30 pm. Lunch will be provided.
7. The day of the press conference, the students will have a twenty minute "meet and greet" alone with the explorers.
8. Please arrange transportation for you and the students to and from the press conference. We will pay for the cost of transportation.
Look forward to meeting you and the students in person. Please let me know if you have any questions.

SCHOOL DESCRIPTION
JOHN F. KENNEDY is an inner city Bronx secondary school. While it has many diverse course offerings and extra-curricular activities, there is no admission test for this neighborhood school. The school is situated adjacent to the Marble Hill Housing project in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx. The vast majority of students are from multiethnic, socially, economically and linguistically challenged backgrounds with over 90% receiving free lunch and other forms of public assistance.
Our Artic Expedition was a student initiated cyberspace journal analysis of the ways in which female 21st Century Explorers Liv and Anne's journals paralleled Leonardo's Codex writings.
Since the participant students were the current maintainers of the Why is the Mona Lisa Smiling web site, they immediately made a connection between the spirit, mission and ideals of Liv, Anne and Leonardo. This comparative analysis also generated student primary source questions for the explorers and student generated student computer Graphics inspired by the explorers' journals.
- Review the students questions.
- React and respond to their perceptions of the explorers' mission.
- Examine the students' models based on the Codex.
- Sign our guestbook with your comments.

Get a paper and pencil. Fun.......B
This is cool chocolate math!!!!!!!
DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!It only takes about a minute.......
Work this out as you read.
Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!
This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun..
- 1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have chocolate. (try for more than once but less than 10)
- 2. Multiply this number by 2 (Just to be bold)
- 3. Add 5. (for Sunday)
- 4. Multiply it by 50 (being a bit stupid) I'll wait while you get the calculator................
- 5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1751.... If you haven't, add 1750 ..........
- 6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born. (if you remember)
[You should have a three digit number ..... ]The first digit of this was your original number (i.e., how many times you want to have chocolate each week).
The next two numbers are your age!THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2001) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS. IMPRESSIVE ISN'T IT?

Birthday Bouquet - Leonardo Laurels
-------------------------------------------------------
April 15 is the anniversary of the the Master's birth in 1452. In this issue we begin celebrating his birthday a month early. Were he with us today, 500 years past his birth and time, Leonardo would be very much at home with our art, culture and inventions.
The continuing interest in his work and the many aspects of his genius, including his art, science, stories, and personna is broader now than in his own time.
Like all powerful heros, Leonardo has become a modern day icon standing for his achievements and accomplishments. He eptomizes a single man's ability to use his intellect and vision to transform society.
Beyond the boundaries of Mona's mystique, Leonardo looms over the 21st Century as a result of:
