Steve,
Thankyou very much! I am absolutely delighted. The site-specific nature of your comments make one feel you have really put a great deal of thought and effort into the evaluation - making the award all the more hard won, and frankly more meaningful. It is very encouraging to hear that you found no coding errors - I do my best and check regularly of course, but always wondered what other browsers & versions would make of the code. Excellent news all round! Thankyou very much for your words of encouragement.

It is with great pleasure that I posted the Mona Lisa Select Site Award on my site. It appears (with link of course) at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hanlon/awards3-0/awards-as3-0.htm

Thanks again,
Annemarie Bruinsma Hanlon

  • Nate Quintana - Spring Creek Youth Services Center
    http://www.cssd11.k12.co.us/springcreek

Please consider our juvenile detention center website for your website award. We believe our website is truly unique throughout the nation's juvenile justice community and promotes the restorative justice philosophy. It is an opportunity to visit the inside of a youth services center via cyberspace that otherwise the public wouldn't be able to do.

Educators, parents and community members agree that technology is a vital component in any effort to raise student achievement. To aid in the integration of technology into the standards-based curriculum, the education program at SCYSC received the annual Colorado Technology Literacy Challenge Fund Grant from the US Department of Education in 1999.

The purpose of "Spring Creek Web" is to provide at-risk students with computer and social skills needed to help them integrate back into society. It will also provide the tools necessary for students to become economically self-sufficient. This will be accomplished by having students develop a website that will give adolescents on the "outside" a look at what life is like in detention.

Our website project endeavors to address two habitual community needs: "How can we prevent adolescent criminal offenders from becoming repeat offenders?" and "How can we reduce adolescent crime?" The development of the website will be integrated throughout the curriculum, and our students will be actively involved in the design, construction, and maintenance of the website. Thank you very much. Nate Quintana Teacher/Webmaster
