CC: "Admin" administration@cyberangels.orgHowdy,
My name is Janice Weikel. I am the Division Director of CyberAngels CAST Team. Your site /13681/data/davin2.shtml was recommended for review to add to our list of Safe Sites for children and families. Our Safe Surfing list will be featured with One Click Away. Our working with One Click Away will increase the traffic to these Safe Sites tremendously.
Since our lists will be featured, the sites we included must comply with certain criteria, this includes a Privacy Policy. I know that your site does not collect any information from your visitors. However, in order to let parents and children alike know that their privacy is respected, we request that all sites that will be on the lists contain a privacy policy linked to from the front page of the site.
Until you have a privacy policy, we can't list your site on the One Click Away site list, so we hope you can put one in place as soon as possible. The site is expected to launch on July 29th as part of a big event in Washington with Vice President Gore and other political leaders. When you place a Privacy Policy on your front page please email me that it is done, along with the link to your front page. As soon as I can verify this, your site will be added to the list along with receiving the CyberAngels Seal of Approval. If you need more information on CyberAngels please follow the link below.
I applaud you for your dedication in maintaining a safe site for children and families.
Thank You,
Janice Weikel CyberMoms CAST

Thank you for the information. As you can tell, I'm far behind in posting Web links on our site, but summer is "catch-up" time.
I've posted the Leonardo site in our Fine Arts Web links. It should be a tremendous help to any student (or anyone) needing to research da Vinci.

Steve,
Many thanks for getting in touch with me at
Metaplus.
I took a look at the web site you recommend - and I've given you a link from the Art page on Metaplus, which seems the most appropriate.
I was interested to browse the site, not least
because I came across Lillian Schwartz's work
some years ago when I was researching my
two computer graphics books (and when I lived
in New York!)
Congratulations to all the students concerned.
Kind regards,
John

We are reevaluating our "kid's page" and making some major changes--perhaps we can include a link to your site--it certainly sounds interesting. Congratulations on your success . . .

Hello Steve.
First of all, my apologies for the delay in responding to your original
message. That's just not like me... really.
Thanks for your suggestion of the Learning About Leonardo web site. I was
personally very impressed with its depth of content. Just so you know, we
are in the midst of compiling our Picks selections for the rest of the
summer. We may be able to use your suggestion as one of them. Stay tuned.
Take care.

To: sjfeld@erols.comHi Steve,
Thanks for the information. I will establish some links to it, but I have to give some thought to how it can be used well in the context of what I do. For example, I just completed over two years as coordinator of a State Board of Education project dealing with computer-mediated distance teaching and learning.
Congratulations on all of the wonderful recognition for the project and its student creators. All of the attention is much deserved.
I was particularly pleased to see a stress on the continuing utility of a 386 since I still use two of these at home :-)
Thanks again for sending me this information.

To: sjfeld@erols.comSteve,
Having begun my teaching career at JFKHS in 1982, as a student teacher in the English Dept. with Mr. Guarente (when Pete Micera was the Chair), you can imagine how pleased I was to get your note. Although I've not yet had the chance to explore the Leonardo project thoroughly (in July I teach mathematics to high schoolers who come to Columbia), it seems a very interesting and rich site and I will certainly get into it over the weekend. And I will certainly put in an appropriate link from MendelWeb in the next edition (which should be out by Sept.).In going through some of the pages about Leonardo's work, I was both impressed and entertained, and I thought the project might like to make use of, or at least refer to, a program that my Brown CS students built this year for a local elementary school art teacher. The program, Building Blast, is an engaging presentation of the history and concepts of architecture for grades 2-5, and of course Leonardo is mentioned. You can download the program for both Windows and Macintosh computers, and read about the development of the program, at: http://www.cs.brown.edu/courses/cs092/Building/ The Educational Software Seminar home page is at: http://www.cs.brown.edu/courses/cs092 I would of course be very interested to know what you think of this work.
Again, it was a great pleasure to get your note, and my best to you & JFKHS.
Sincerely,
Roger_______________________________________________________________ Roger B. I hope this doesn't sound too silly, but I have started an award system at Teacher Education (due to many requests to do so) and as a Site of the Moment winner you have also been awarded the "Teacher Education commitment to Education Excellence Award".
I hope you can place this award on your site somewhere if it is to your liking. If not, just know that I think your site is excellent and worthy of this and many other awards.
Thank you once again Steve - your site has been an inspiration to me:)
